- When
doing something within Windows Vista, you normally have to select an item (such
as the Title Bar within a window) and once selected can you manipulate whatever
it was you selected. This is a very
important concept to remember. You need
to select an item to tell Windows Vista what item you are interested in, before
you can manipulate it. This idea is fundamental
to using Windows Vista. For instance,
later we will see that if you wish to format your text, you need to select a portion
of text and then apply the formatting. In
a different context later on when you want to move a file on your hard disk from
one place to another, you need to select the file first, and then move them.
